Background:

Suchana Shastha O Shikha Foundation (SSSF) was established in September 13, 2007 as an initiative of a dynamic social worker Ms. Gita Rani Mondol and a group of self-motivated social workers. The organization envisions a society that is economically self- reliant, environmentally sound, socially peaceful and democratically empowered. The organization is implementing its development activities by focusing on both urban and rural population who are stressed, landless, economically insolvent, socially excluded, under-privileged and physically & mentally disabled especially the organization is concentrated on the poorest of the poor. SSSF is registered under Register of Joint Stock Company, Department of Social Services and NGO Affairs Bureau.

The socio-economic condition of the people, where SSSF is in operation, is regressive. The prevailing challenges of the area are unemployment, malnutrition, absence of proper education, exclusion of decision making process. With these socio-Economic realities, Suchana Shastha O Shikha Foundation started its mission to facilitate the targeted partners toward sustainable development and social transformation though technology transfer, make free excess and optimum use of local resources.

 

 

 

Registration Information:

SSSF started its activities in the year 2005. Nonetheless, the organization got it first legitimate recognition from the Joint Stock Companies, Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2007. SSSF also gets registered with NGO Affairs Bureau in the year 2014. The organization is also registered with the Bangladesh Technical Education Board. Moreover, the organization is a listed tax payer with the Office of Deputy Commissioner of Taxes.

Constitution

Constitution is the key framework or structure that is necessary for running any institution. According to the necessity and demand, SSSF has developed a well-organized & well formulated Constitution by which all administrative, financial and development works have been going on. SSSF got its constitution approved from the concerned authority. The organization has been holding election on regular basis in every three years for forming its Executive Committee.

 

Management and Organizational Structure

 

Suchana Shastha O Shikha Foundation (SSSF) gives high priority on democratic practice, good governance, accountability and transparency, operating according to the approved constitution of the organization. Two management committees execute the organization. The general body is the supreme authority involved in policy for mutation and approval of the activities of the Executive committee. The General Body is also involved in formation of the executive committee. The General Body of SSSF consists of 21 members. The General Body forms 7 members Executive Committee. The Secretary of the Executive Committee is designated the post of Executive Director by the constitution. A functioning body headed by the Executive Director is responsible for executing the day-to-day activities of the organization.

General Body: The General Body of the organization comprises a group of high experienced urban poor people involved in the movement for reducing poverty of urban poor for a long time. The General Body is consisting of 21 members. The supreme management authority of the organization is vested with the general committee. The executive committee becomes elected by the General Body members through an election process in its annual general meeting for a period of 03 years term.

Executive Body: The Executive Committee is consisting of 7 members’ headed by a President. The executive committee is responsible for the overall management as per the organizational constitution. Executive Body meets at least 4 times in a year. Annual General Meeting takes place one in a year and all the general committee members participate in this meeting. This committee can meet on emergency any time in the year as and when needed.

General Administration: The general administration is headed by the President. He/She is responsible for overall management, administration & finance of the organization as well as implementation of its different development programs/ projects and related activities along with his professional staff. President is accountable to the Executive Body of the organization.

Internal Management Committee

Suchana has an internal management Committee-IMC consists of the Executive committee members to monitor & assess the implementation of all programs & projects. Women’s participation is ensured in the IMC for maintaining gender balance. The IMC members assist the Manager in executing programs/projects on the basis of the decisions taken by the EC. Moreover, monthly meeting takes place at the head office to assess, review & evaluate the performance of the past month & to plan actions for the current month. The members of IMC and staff members of Suchana participate in monthly meeting. Moreover, in order to assess the performances of staff members at the grassroots & evaluate the implementation of activities, weekly and monthly meetings are held at projects/programs offices at unit level regularly where all staff members of that unit/programs/projects office attend.

 

Organizational Structure

Organogram is an intuitive reflection of organization structure, one of the most common diagrams to illustrate the relationships among departments, superiors, and subordinates vividly and briefly. It is defined as a top-bottom, with icon list, architecture diagram which can automatically increase the vertical level. Organogram shows the correlation among organizational unit in the form of graphics and it provides great convenience for people to view detailed information on organizational units as well as the associated position and personnel.

SSSF creates an organogram for the projection of the divisional function, allow people to know whether right and responsibility are set properly or not, tell if someone is under the overweight workload, assist people in finding if there is someone undertaking relevant work and staying idle, help managers to identify if some talented workers haven’t been able to draw out the best in themselves, help manager to notice if some unqualified person hold an important position.

Suchana has a professional staff team with extensive experience and specialization in the areas of education, health, Skills Development, agriculture and community development. The large number of human resources is the critical strength of SSSF which will helpful for implementing the project in the field level. SSSF is a modern style, efficient and highly client oriented non-government organization. The organization is currently in Dhaka City Corporation, Pirojpur, and Bagerhat district/city Corporation. The experienced staff member of the organization, infrastructure, financial capacity and other facilities make the organization unique. It is capable of managing any development project with its professional staff members in any geographical location of Bangladesh.
